In a remarkably weak post on Huffington Post entitled: Scrubbed: Edwards Filmmakers Deleted Website Raises Questions author Sam Stein (de)posits on the controversy he apparently invented specifically for himself regarding a “mystery website” that *gasp* disappeared from the internet, inferring some vaguely nefarious but entirely unspecified conspiracy about presidential candidate John Edwards and the non-political, entirely private citizen filmmaker.

Well, the natives did NOT dig it and have been very critical of HuffPo for publishing such FUD. Commenter Jakie7 writes:

All pretty toxic. My guess is Sam Stein is just a kid trying to make a name for himself. What’s interesting is the trolls. They’re trying to light a fire here, no question. But the double whammy is they are GOP smear artists. They try to insinuate this is all coming from Clinton or Obama and they score a double hit. This is the nature of this scum.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?

This is the worst piece of unsubstantiated tripe I’ve ever read… and I make it a point to track the right-wing politco-porn sites like redstate and free republic.

Sam Stein, you are disgusting. Just because you’re not a journalist, that doesn’t give you a right to stop being a human being.

Arianna, what are you doing letting somebody post anything with as little merit as this? Is there a single fact or attributable quote in this entire mess? This does nothing more than give right-wing pundits and pseudo-journalists excellent cause to deride the blogsphere.

Definitely not a good moment for Huffington Post..
